Ile-de-France: Passes
For daily and weekly Paris visits, a pass is much more cost-saving. It has 3 types:
- Tourist Pass (Paris Visite Card),
- Local Pass (Navigo)
- Ordinary Pass (Carte Orange and Navigo Decouvert)
Unlike ordinary passes, tourist ones also provide discounts to visit many museums and sights. They require passport-like photos, so have them ready.
Passes allow unlimited travel by days, weeks, months and even years by any public transport means except taxi. Their price depends on a valid period and covered zones. Most passes are valid till midnight, not for 24 hours ahead. So a pass counts a whole day even after activation at 8 pm.
Passes are available at major subway/RER stations, SNCF railroad terminals in Ile-de-France and Paris airports. Some passes can also be purchased at Paris Convention offices and the Visit Bureau.
